Weather Update

Hello campers, parents, and staff.

It is unfortunate that I must tell you tomorrow’s Weird Science Cub Camp will need to be cancelled. There has been so much rain that both rivers bordering our camp have breached their banks and water levels continue to rise. Even if it were to stop raining right now…. the roads into camp would still be impassable by vehicle tomorrow. More rain is expected. The Camp Directors and Program Directors are currently working on a plan to make up some of the lost program. 

We will kick-off the camp on Sunday as scheduled. Please plan to arrive early enough to get your Scout properly checked in if you have not already done so. The same information from last night’s message still applies. Stay tuned for further information/updates.

Weird Science Day Camp 2021

Cub Camp is open to all registered Cub Scouts who are Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos and Arrow of Light.

Registration

Scouts are encouraged to attend BOTH WEEKENDS!
Scouts register individually for camp, but we encourage dens and packs to coordinate plans to attend camp together. 

DATE: July 10-11, Check in at 1 p.m., check out at 7 p.m. each day
July 17-18, 2021, Check in at 1 p.m., check out at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Check out by 4 p.m. on Sunday (BOTH WEEKENDS ENCOURAGED)

LOCATION: Camp Karankawa, 3249 FM 1459 Rd, Sweeny, TX 77480

COST (Includes t-shirt, bag, and water bottle.) (Extra t-shirts are $10 each for Youth Small-Adult XLarge, $14 for Adult 2-3XL.)
Scouts: $80 if registered by May 21st, $100 if registered by June 10th, $130 if registered by June 25th.
- PARENTS OF TIGER CUBS - complimentary & must attend
- TOT LOT 6 AND UNDER - complimentary & staff's children only
- STAFF & DEN WALKERS - complimentary

PLEASE BRING:
- BSA HEALTH FORM (Parts A&B). If you are in a unit, give your form to your unit coordinator. If you are an individual, bring your form on the first day of camp.
- CLOSED-TOE SHOES
- Adults - Copy of your driver's license if you plan on driving - picking up or dropping off
- Scouts - Wear your Cub Camp t-shirt each day after you have been issued one.
- Snack (small meal)
- Appropriate swim wear & towel (No bikinis)

VOLUNTEER: If you would like to volunteer, please register as staff!

TO REGISTER: Please have unit number, t-shirt size, emergency contact info, and food allergies or physical disabilities ready.

CAMPERSHIPS: The Bay Area Council believes that no Scout should be denied a camp experience due to cost, and works to meet the need of all Scouts who want to go to camp, up to 50% of the total cost. Families who need assistance are encouraged to apply for a campership.  For more information, contact Field Director Kelly Meacham at kelly.meacham@scouting.org or visit www.bacbsa.org/awards-forms and scroll down to Awards & Forms, download the Bay Area Council Assistance Request Form.

REGISTRATION ENDS: June 25, 2021. No exceptions. **We have extended registration to July 2nd. We have done our best to project how many Scouts will be attending, but there is not guarantee that your Scout will get a shirt. We will do everything within our power to make sure no Scout goes without.**
